HK Customs seizes suspected cocaine at airport (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (September 9) arrested a male passenger arriving from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) via Dubai (United Arab Emirates) at Hong Kong International Airport and seized about 2.4 kilogrammes of suspected liquid cocaine with an estimated market value of about $2.6 million.
 
     Upon inspection of the passenger's check-in luggage, Customs officers found four bottles of hair care products of different brands. After X-ray examination, the suspected drug was found to be contained in the bottles.
 
     The arrested man, aged 20, who claimed to be a businessman, will be charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Court tomorrow (September 11).
 
     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
