Police are investigating a manslaughter and suicide case in Chai Wan today (September 8) in which a 68-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman died.
At about 10.03am, Police received report from a 36-year-old woman that her parents had committed suicide inside a unit of Hing Cho House in Hing Tung Estate.
Police sped to scene and located the 68-year-old man and his 58-year-old wife lying unconscious on a bed inside a bedroom where burnt charcoal was found. They were certified dead at scene.
Initial investigation revealed that the woman attempted to commit suicide with her husband by burning charcoal inside the unit.
Post-mortem examinations will be conducted to ascertain the causes of death of the deceased.
Active investigations by District Crime Squad of Eastern District are underway.
