PSCT to attend Asia-Pacific Telecommunity Ministerial Meeting in Brunei

     The Permanent Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development (Communications and Technology), Miss Susie Ho, will leave for Brunei Darussalam tomorrow (September 9) to attend the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Ministerial Meeting on September 10 and 11.

     This year, the APT Ministerial Meeting will commemorate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the APT, and deliberate on building a smart digital economy through information and communications technology (ICT). Participating ministers will discuss at various sessions issues including measures to maintain sustainable ICT development, improving cyber safety and security, and increasing stimulation of innovation and creativity. At the end of the meeting, the ministers will adopt a joint ministerial statement that would further strengthen regional collaboration.

     On September 10, Miss Ho will attend the opening ceremony of the Ministerial Meeting and give a speech at the session on "Enabling a Sustainable ICT Ecosystem for an Innovative Economy". She will return to Hong Kong on September 12.

     The APT is an organisation of governments, telecom service providers, manufacturers of communication equipment, research and development organisations, and other stakeholders active in the field of ICT. It now has 38 members, four associate members and 132 affiliate members.
