Final voter turnout for Islands District Council by-election (with photo)

     At the close of polling at 10.30pm today (September 7), 2 269 of the 3 722 registered electors of the Peng Chau and Hei Ling Chau Constituency had cast their votes in the Islands District Council by-election, representing a turnout of 60.96 per cent. (The voter turnout figures are only for temporary reference.)

     The polling station at Peng Chau Sports Centre, Peng Chau Municipal Services Building, 6 Po Peng Street, Peng Chau, New Territories opened from 7.30am to 10.30pm.

     The dedicated polling station at Marine South Division of Hong Kong Police Force also opened from 7.30am to 10.30pm. It was set up for electors in the Peng Chau and Hei Ling Chau Constituency remanded or detained by law enforcement agencies other than the Correctional Services Department (CSD) to cast their ballots.

     As no elector of the Peng Chau and Hei Ling Chau Constituency is imprisoned or remanded in the CSD's custody, there is no need to set up dedicated polling stations in penal institutions in the by-election.
