The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the visiting Minister of Culture, Mr Cai Wu, at the Chief Executive's Office this afternoon (September 5) to discuss cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Mr Leung thanked the Ministry of Culture for its support on the promotion of Chinese culture and arts by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. He pointed out that Hong Kong, being an international metropolis, could act as a bridge for cultural exchanges between the Mainland and rest of the world and foster understanding of Chinese culture around the globe.
He said he hoped that Hong Kong and the Mainland could continue to deepen exchanges and co-operation in culture and arts and make contributions to the development of the cultural and creative industries of the country.
