An opening ceremony for the Mid-Autumn Festival variety show cum Sha Tin Festival 2014 will be held on September 8 in Sha Tin Park to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and mark the opening of the Sha Tin Festival, which is held every four years.
The event is organised by the Working Group on Mid-Autumn Festival of Sha Tin District Council, and co-organised by the Sha Tin Festival Committee 2014 and Sha Tin District Office. The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang; the Chairman of the Sha Tin District Council, Mr Ho Hau-cheung; and the District Officer (Sha Tin), Ms Cora Ho will officiate at the ceremony.
The variety show will feature acrobatics, Chinese instrumental music, a tea-tasting workshop, lantern riddles and handicraft game booths. Local artistes will also be invited to perform at the show and play games with the audience.
Admission to the variety show is free and members of the public are invited to join the event at 7.30pm in Sha Tin Park. For enquiries, please contact Sha Tin District Office at 2158 5447.
The Sha Tin Festival 2014 will be held from September 8 this year to March 1 next year, under the theme of "We are Sha Tin". During the festival, a wide range of cultural, leisure, sports, arts and caring activities will be organised to showcase the diverse characteristics of new town life and the uniqueness of Sha Tin District. Residents are encouraged to take part in the community activities to strengthen their sense of belonging to the community.
