Blood Transfusion Service's new advertisement makes its debut tomorrow (with photo)
********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) will launch its new advertisement in local TV and radio stations tomorrow (September 5). The BTS gladly received voluntary support from artiste Sammi Cheng to take part in the filming of the TV commercial (TVC), and radio host Barry Yip volunteered to lend his voice to the radio advertisement in Cantonese. The public can watch the new TVC in the BTS website from tomorrow.

The message of this year's TVC is "Give blood, save lives. Put words into action!" It shows scenes of people from different backgrounds donating blood to help the sick, followed by Cheng pointing out that each blood donation can help three patients.

Members of the public who are aged between 16 and 60 (donation is possible up to the age of 70 if predetermined conditions are met), weigh over 41 kilograms and are in good health are eligible to be blood donors. Male and female adult donors aged 18 or above can give blood every 75 days and every 105 days respectively; youths aged 16 and 17 can donate blood every 150 days. For the locations and service hours of donor centres, please call the BTS hotline on 2710 1234 or visit its website at www.ha.org.hk/rcbts.
