Police investigate murder and wounding case on HK-registered vessel in high seas

     Police are investigating a murder and wounding case that occurred in high seas onboard a Hong Kong-registered vessel on August 14 (USA Eastern time) in which a 45-year-old mainland man and a 40-year-old mainland man were died and injured respectively.

     According to the laws of Hong Kong, any law-breaking act takes place onboard a Hong Kong-registered vessel on the high seas constitute an offence within the jurisdiction of Hong Kong.

     Initial investigations by Regional Crime Unit, Marine revealed that at about 9.30 pm on August 14 (USA Eastern time), two male mainland crewmen, aged 45 and 40 respectively, were both stabbed by a 47-year-old mainland male suspect onboard the vessel in high seas, off 24 nautical miles of the boundary of the State Delaware, USA. The suspect jumped overboard after the incident and his body was found in sea the day after.

     The two victims were sent to a hospital in Atlantic City where the 45-year-old man was certified dead while the 40-year-old man was admitted.

     Active investigations by Regional Crime Unit, Marine are underway.
