Moon watching tips for Mid-Autumn Festival 2014

     The Mid-Autumn Festival this year falls on September 8 (Monday). To assist moon-watching by the public, the times of moonrise, transit and moonset during the Mid-Autumn Festival period are given below. At transit, the moon passes the local meridian due south and its elevation is the highest of the night.

     Although the full moon occurs in the morning of the day following the Mid-Autumn Festival, the moon will still be rather bright after the moonrise at night. If the weather permits, a bright and clear moon can be observed from open space in all districts during the period.
