The Government welcomes the setting up of two new committees under the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL) Board, namely the Capital Works Committee and the Risk Committee.
A spokesman for the Government said today (August 21) that as the Secretary for Transport and Housing has reiterated many times, the Government will proactively carry out its duty as the Corporation's majority shareholder and urge the MTRCL to review its corporate structure and operation as well as to make necessary reform.
"The two newly established committees under the MTRCL Board will facilitate more in-depth and focused supervision of the progress of MTRCL's works projects and its overall risk management, including railway operation and service performance, customer relations, etc. This will be conducive to the Corporation's long-term development, strengthening its corporate governance and enhancing its level of overall performance," the spokesman added.
