Fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Yuen Long this morning (August 20) in which a 44-year-old man was killed.

     At about 5.30am, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 38-year-old man was traveling along Yuen Long Highway towards Sheung Shui. When approaching near Shap Pat Heung Interchange, it reportedly hit onto the back of a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 46-year-old man and then rammed into the central divider. A 44-year-old MGV passenger was thrown out of the vehicle, while the LGV sideturned. Another MGV that followed after and driven by a 53-year-old man collided with the mentioned MGV then.

     The 44-year-old man sustained serious injuries on his feet, while the 46-year-old LGV driver and two male LGV passengers aged 52 and 53 were also injured. All of them were sent to Pok Oi Hospital, where the 44-year-old man was certified dead at 6.08am.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories North are underway.
