*************************************************

The Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, met the visiting United States (US) Congressional delegation led by Congressman Bill Shuster at the Chief Executive's Office this afternoon (August 18) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

Mr Leung introduced to the delegation the various major transport infrastructure projects being undertaken in Hong Kong, including the three-runway system of the Hong Kong International Airport, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link. He pointed out that these projects would bring forth substantial economic benefits to Hong Kong and enhance the city's connectivity with the Mainland of China.

Mr Leung also highlighted Hong Kong's advantages under the principle of "One Country, Two Systems". He encouraged more US companies to invest in the city and make the best use of Hong Kong's financial platform as well as the city's unique role as a super-connector in the China-US economic and trade relationship.

He said that Hong Kong and the US have been enjoying close trade and economic ties and expressed the hope that the two places would continue their frequent exchanges and co-operation on all fronts.
