Tickets for HK Film Archive's Special Matinee to commemorate war victory to be distributed from Monday (with photo)
************************************************************

In commemoration of the Victory Day of the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression, the Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will hold a Special Matinee at 11am on September 3 to screen the wartime drama, "Roar of the People" (1941), starring Cheung Ying, Fung Fung and Tso Tat-wah.

Free admission tickets will be distributed from Monday (August 18) onwards at the Enquiry Counter of the HKFA (10am - 8pm). Each person can receive a maximum of two tickets on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last.

Produced by the Grandview Company and directed by Tang Xiaodan, "Roar of the People" features the darkest moments of residents during the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese aggression. The poor are forced to starve on the street while the rich continue to thrive, and a businessman bullies workers and even sells tungsten wire to the enemy. The character played by Cheung Ying finally leads workers to fight back against the evil businessman.

The film is in Cantonese with both Chinese and English subtitles. For enquiries, please call 2734 2900 or 2739 2139 or browse the webpage at www.lcsd.gov.hk/CE/CulturalService/filmprog/english/2014raja/2014raja_film.html.
