Senior appointments in Police Force

     Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Mr Lo Wai-chung, will assume the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Management) upon the retirement of the incumbent Deputy Commissioner (Management), Mr Ma Wai-luk, with effect from September 17, 2014.

    Approval has also been given for the appointment of Senior Assistant Commissioner, Mr Wong Chi-hung, as Deputy Commissioner of Police who will take up the post of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) on the same date.

    Brief biographical notes on Mr Wong Chi-hung are set out below:
 
    Mr Wong, 55 years old, joined the Hong Kong Police as an Inspector in 1981. He was promoted to Senior Superintendent in 2001, Chief Superintendent in 2004, Assistant Commissioner in 2009 and Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2013.

    In the first ten years of his career, Mr Wong held a variety of operational posts at Divisional, District and Regional levels with an emphasis on criminal investigation.  From 1993 to 1995, he served in the Commissionerˇ¦s Office as the Personal Assistant to the Commissioner.  Since 1995 he began to work in various policy wings and operations formations, including Narcotics Bureau, Security Wing, Operations Wing, Airport District, Central District and Police Tactical Unit Headquarters. He was also seconded to the Security Bureau from 1999 to 2002 as an Assistant Secretary responsible for security-related liaison.  

    He has taken up the post of Director of Operations since February 2013.
