A 59-year-old man was convicted of five counts of fraud at the District Court today (August 13)ˇ@and sentenced to 3 yearsˇ¦ imprisonment.
The Court heard that the Police received a report from a local bank in July 2012 that the 59-year-old man , who was an owner of a local footwear company, submitted some suspectedly false documents in March 2012 to obtain a total of about HK$7.6 million of import loans from the bank.
Investigations by officers of Commercial Crime Bureau revealed that the commercial invoices and the packing lists submitted by the man were false. Police arrested the man in August 2012 and subsequently charged him with five counts of fraud. He was convicted of the offences and sentenced to jail today.
