Junior Police Call 40th Anniversary Fight Crime Summer Camp (with photos)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, and the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, accompanied by the Commissioner of Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung, visited the Junior Police Call (JPC) 40th Anniversary Fight Crime Summer Camp at Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village today (August 13).
 
     Officiating at the launching ceremony, they urged JPC members to help Police combat crime and promote anti-drug messages.
 
     To mark the 40th anniversary of the scheme, 400 guests held placards forming a large picture with ˇ§anti-drug, anti-crimeˇ¨ in Chinese characters and ˇ§40ˇ¨ at the ceremony to symbolise JPCˇ¦s commitment to fight crime since its establishment.
 
     Mr Lai pointed out that apart from official website, the Police also launched MobileApp, YouTube channel and Facebook page to spread anti-crime and anti-drug messages. He noted that the number of serious crimes committed by young people was decreasing. He encouraged JPC members to continue to fight crime.
 
     Two former JPC members, Ms Lo Man-yee and Mr Wong Ho-yin, were appointed by Mr Lai as the JPC 40th anniversary ambassadors to promote the messages of ˇ§anti-drugˇ¨ and ˇ§anti-crimeˇ¨. They shared their experience of being JPC members with the campers.
 
     After the ceremony, the officiating guests toured around the camp, watching JPC members participating in various activities, including planting, two-way radio, handicraft and cupcake baking.
 
     They also visited the exhibitions on the winning entries of the 40th Anniversary Facebook Photo Shooting Competition as well as the ˇ§Footprints of the Old Daysˇ¨, depicting the development of JPC throughout the years.
 
     Organised by the Police, the annual summer camp aims to enhance JPC members' awareness of crimes and drug abuse as well as to promote positive values through various activities.
 
     About 800 JPC members took part in this yearˇ¦s summer camp from August 12 to 15.
