Acting CE wishes fight crime ambassadors a fruitful trip to Australia (with photos)

     Acting Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, today (August 6) met 19 fight crime ambassadors at Government House to wish them a fruitful and smooth trip to Australia.
 
     She encouraged the ambassadors to make good use of the opportunity to broaden their horizons, as well as to introduce to Australian friends the latest development of Hong Kong and exchange views with local youths on crime fighting.
 
     The 19 young ambassadors are the winners of the secondary school, post secondary school and non-government organisation (including youth service groups and uniformed groups receiving subvention from the Home Affairs Bureau) categories of the ¡§Hang Seng Bank - Help the Police Fight Youth Crime Competition 2014¡¨. They will leave for Australia on August 21, and visit police departments and youth organisations in Sydney and Melbourne during their eight-day journey.
 
     Commending for their outstanding performance in the competition, Mrs Lam noted that the ambassadors had shown brilliant leadership and analytical skills. She appealed to the continued participation of the ambassadors in fighting youth crimes and encouraged them to disseminate anti-drug, anti-theft and anti-violence messages to their peers in schools and in the community.
 
     Commissioner of Police, Mr Tsang Wai-hung, joined the ambassadors for lunch before accompanying them to meet Acting Chief Executive.
 
     The biennial competition was organised by the Police with sponsorship from Hang Seng Bank. Under the theme ¡§Fight Crime Together¡¨, this year¡¦s competition attracted a record high of nearly 290 000 participants.
 
     Contestants had to go through three phases of evaluation comprising a combination of web game, quiz, report on newspaper article, essay writing, project presentation on youth crimes, aptitude test and interview.
