**********************************************************

Attention radio and TV announcers:

Please broadcast the following special announcement as soon as possible and repeat it at suitable intervals:

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced that as at 10am today (August 5), 38 of its public swimming pools were fully open to the public while five were partially open, namely Morrison Hill Swimming Pool in Wan Chai District, Sham Shui Po Park Swimming Pool in Sham Shui Po District, Hammer Hill Road Swimming Pool in Wong Tai Sin District, Tuen Mun North West Swimming Pool in Tuen Mun District and Shing Mun Valley Swimming Pool in Tsuen Wan District.

Public beaches are open except for Butterfly Beach in Tuen Mun District at which the lifesaving service is suspended until further notice due to an insufficient number of lifeguards on duty. The red flag has been hoisted at the beach. For safety reasons, swimmers are advised not to enter the water.

The department apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Members of the public may call the respective public swimming pools or public beaches to enquire about their opening. The telephone numbers are listed in the LCSD's website at www.lcsd.gov.hk/beach/en/swim-location-hk.php (for swimming pools on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon), www.lcsd.gov.hk/beach/en/swim-location-nt.php (for swimming pools in the New Territories), www.lcsd.gov.hk/beach/en/beach-location-hk.php (for beaches on Hong Kong Island) and www.lcsd.gov.hk/beach/en/beach-location-nt.php (for beaches in the New Territories).
