Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra to perform piano concerto "Temptations" with animation and speech
******************************************************

The Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra will stage two concerts in September with animation and speech, bringing an extraordinary audio-visual experience to audiences.

Under the baton of Principal Guest Conductor Jimmy Chiang, the orchestra will collaborate with pianist Yap Man-shan to perform Yip Wai-hong's piano concerto, "Temptations", in which the temptations of Christ will be presented with a speech performance by Vincent Wong and animation created by Kenneth Tsang and Chih Leung.

The programme will also include Wagner's "Overture to Tannhäuser" and Wieniawski's Fantaisie Brillante, on themes from Gounod's "Faust", Op. 20.

Hong Kong-born conductor and pianist Jimmy Chiang was featured in a front-page article entitled "Versatility comes through Hard Work, Discipline and Respect" in the international opera magazine "Orpheus" in 2009.  Since 2008, Chiang has been Principal Guest Conductor of the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra. Since autumn last year, he has been Kapellmeister of the world-famous Vienna Boys' Choir and leads the choir on concert tours worldwide.

Pianist Yap Man-shan and violinist Andrew Ling, who both have rich performance experience, will join the concerts.  Yap Man-shan has performed as a soloist with the Texas Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra and Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. She is currently on the piano faculty of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Andrew Ling is currently the principal violinist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic.

The Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra is a local orchestra whose aim is to promote music among the general public, especially the younger generation, in Hong Kong.  To achieve its goal, the orchestra has performed in the Hong Kong City Hall, regional town halls and civic centres for more than 30 years.  A number of internationally renowned conductors and soloists have performed with it.
