The spokesperson for Tai Po Hospital (TPH) gave the following update today (July 31) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) carriers in a male Medicine and Geriatrics Ward:
The hospital has stepped up the screening procedures and three more patients (aged 72 to 86) have been confirmed as carriers of MDRA today but without clinical symptoms. They are under medical surveillance and isolation with stable condition.
TPH will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation of the ward. The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
