Under Secretary appointed

     The Chief Executive's Office announced today (July 31) that the Appointment Committee has appointed an Under Secretary of the fourth term of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

     The Secretary for Labour and Welfare has recommended Mr Stephen Sui Wai-keung to be his Under Secretary and his recommendation has been approved by the Appointment Committee. Mr Sui will assume office on August 15.

     The 11 Under Secretaries of the current-term Government have all been appointed.

     Following are the biographical notes on the new appointee:

Mr Stephen Sui Wai-keung

     Aged 57, Mr Sui holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Hong Kong.

     Mr Sui joined the Government as an Executive Officer in 1978 and was promoted through the ranks to Senior Principal Executive Officer in 2010.

     Mr Sui served in various bureaux and departments including the Land Registry, the former Urban Services Department, the Civil Service Bureau and the Department of Justice. He has been the Commissioner for Rehabilitation since February 2008, responsible for the overall co-ordination of the rehabilitation policies and initiatives for persons with disabilities.
