SCED to visit Taipei and Taichung

     The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Gregory So, will depart for Taipei tomorrow morning (July 30) for a two-day visit to Taipei and Taichung.

     Serving in his capacity as the Vice-Chairperson of the Hong Kong-Taiwan Economic and Cultural Co-operation and Promotion Council during the visit, Mr So will meet with the head of the tourism authorities in Taiwan, Mr David W J Hsieh, in Taipei.

     While in Taichung, Mr So will attend a networking function between tourism trade partners from Hong Kong and Taiwan organised by the Taiwan office of the Hong Kong Tourism Board tomorrow evening.

     Mr So will give a keynote speech on the directions and promotion strategies for developing Hong Kong tourism at the 2014 Hong Kong-Taichung Intercity Forum co-organised by the Hong Kong Economic, Trade and Cultural Office (Taiwan) and the Taichung City Government in the morning of July 31. He will also attend a luncheon hosted by the Taichung City Deputy Mayor, Mr Tsai Ping-kun.

     The Commissioner for Tourism, Mr Philip Yung, will accompany Mr So during the visit to the two cities.

     Mr So will return to Hong Kong in the late evening of July 31. The Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Godfrey Leung, will be the Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development during Mr So's absence.
