The spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) gave the following update today (July 26) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) carriers in a ventilator ward:
The hospital has stepped up the screening procedures and confirmed one more 74-year-old male patient as carrier of MDRA today but without clinical symptoms. He is under medical surveillance and isolation with stable condition.
The hospital will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation of the ward. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
