Young people invited to express views on discussion topics for Youth Summit 2014

     Starting from today (July 21), young people are invited to express their views by using the website of the Commission on Youth (www.coy.gov.hk) to select topics for in-depth discussion at the Youth Summit 2014.

     The Home Affairs Bureau and the Commission on Youth will host the Youth Summit 2014 on November 29 to provide a platform for young people to exchange views on issues of concern with government representatives and guests. The theme of the Summit is "Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth". Discussion topics will be chosen to facilitate more in-depth exchanges.  

     To enhance youth participation, an exercise is being conducted for young people to choose three discussion topics out of the following 10 proposed topics for in-depth discussion:

     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth in a Globalised Economy
     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth with the Rapid Development of Information Technology
     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth with the Challenges of a Knowledge-based Society
     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth in the Development of Cultural and Creative Industries
     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth with the Growing Global Cultural Exchange
     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth with the Struggle between Environmental Protection and Economic Development
     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth with the Disparity between Rich and Poor in our Community
     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth in a Community with Growing Civic Awareness
     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth with the Wide Accessibility of Higher Education
     * Opportunities and Future in the Eyes of Youth with the Transition from School to Work

     The three most popular topics will become the discussion topics at the Youth Summit 2014.
     
     The collection of views' exercise will end at midnight on August 10 (Hong Kong time). Details about the recruitment of youth participants in the Youth Summit will be announced separately in due course.
