Special traffic and transport arrangements for public processions in Kowloon on Sunday
******************************************************

     The Transport Department (TD) today (July 17) reminded the public that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in Kowloon this Sunday (July 20) to facilitate the holding of two public processions.

     The special traffic and transport arrangements will mainly include:

Lane closures
-------------

     Traffic lanes of the following road sections will be intermittently closed from about 11.30am:

1. The section of Cheung Sha Wan Road southbound between Cheung Sha Wan Playground and Wong Chuk Street;
2. The section of Cheung Sha Wan Road northbound between Wong Chuk Street and Boundary Street;
3. The section of Nathan Road southbound between Boundary Street and Jordan Road;
4. The section of Jordan Road westbound between Nathan Road and Canton Road; and
5. The section of Canton Road southbound between Jordan Road and Salisbury Road.

Public transport services
-------------------------

     A total of 41 bus routes operating in the affected areas will be temporarily diverted. The public transport operators concerned will arrange publicity to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements.

     The TD anticipates that the traffic along the procession routes will be affected. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected roads on that day. In case of traffic congestion, motorists should exercise tolerance and patience, and follow the instructions of the Police. Members of the public who plan to go to the affected areas are advised to use public transport services as far as possible.

     The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and the public are advised to stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.

     Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are available at TD's website (www.td.gov.hk). For further enquiries, please call 1823.
