The Labour Department will hold a three-day large-scale job fair at Kin Choi Community Hall in Tseung Kwan O from July 16 to 18. The first day of the recruitment event will be marked by a dedicated retail job fair that will offer vacancies from the retail industry, whilst the job fair on July 17 and 18 will offer vacancies from the catering, property management and transport industries. Twenty-three participating organisations will set up counters and conduct on-the-spot recruitment each day.
A total of 69 organisations, offering about 5 300 vacancies, will participate at the fair. The vacancies offered cover a wide variety of positions such as store manager trainee, salesperson, customer services executive, waiter/waitress, shop assistant, kitchen helper, technician, security guard, driver, storekeeper, personal care worker and cleaner. Job seekers can find more information on the department's Interactive Employment Service website (www.jobs.gov.hk).
Around 80 per cent of the vacancies are full-time jobs. Most vacancies offer monthly salaries ranging from $8,000 to $15,000. Over 95 per cent of the vacancies require a Secondary Six education level or below. Around 64 per cent are open to job seekers who may lack relevant experience, and many vacancies are suitable for young people and secondary school graduates.
Job seekers can submit applications on the spot and may be selected for on-site interviews. They can also register for employment services at the Labour Department's counter.
The job fair will be held from 11am to 5.30pm at Kin Choi Community Hall, 6/F, Choi Ming Shopping Centre Extension, Kin Ming Estate, Tseung Kwan O (MTR Tiu Keng Leng Station Exit A1). Admission is free.
