The new course "Choir Training and Management", for conductors, music teachers and organisers of choirs in schools, community organisations and churches, and those aged 15 or above and interested in this topic, will introduce the basic choral training techniques, voice classification, audition and concert arrangements, and development of a choir.

Conductors and music teachers of schools and community and church choirs, and those aged 15 or above and possessing Grade 5 theory, can also consider the "Choral Conducting Workshop", in which the conductor's roles, different conducting styles and body languages, rehearsal and conducting techniques and methods in selection of repertoire will be covered.

The regular workshop series includes ocarina, guitar, vocal singing, keyboard playing, Western music theory (Grades 1 and 2) and aural training, as well as ensemble playing on flute, saxophone, Chinese musical instruments, Western strings and Western orchestral instruments. The course fees for the workshop series range from $189 to $630.

The Outreach Music Interest Courses also provide basic training on xiao, dizi, liuyeqin, pipa, zhong-ruan, yangqin, zheng, erhu, clarinet, saxophone, flute, trumpet, percussion (glockenspiel and practice pad), violin, viola and cello. The course fee is $840.

All courses will be conducted in small groups in Cantonese. They will be held at different venues throughout Hong Kong, including the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Sha Tin Town Hall, Tsuen Wan Town Hall, Tuen Mun Town Hall, Sheung Wan Civic Centre, Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre, Ngau Chi Wan Civic Centre, Tai Po Civic Centre, Kwai Tsing Theatre, Ko Shan Theatre, Hong Kong Central Library, Pei Ho Street Sports Centre (Sham Shui Po) and the Music Office's music centres at Wan Chai, Mong Kok, Sha Tin, Kwun Tong and Tsuen Wan.
