Twelve building plans approved in May

     The Buildings Department approved 12 building plans in May, with five on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, four were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 18 building projects that, when completed, will provide 53 099 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 295 units, and 153 471 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for eight building projects.

     The department also issued 12 occupation permits, with three on Hong Kong Island, two in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 14 179 sq m, involving  334 units, and 42 963 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in May totalled about $1.2 billion.

     In addition, 12 demolition consents involving 12 building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 267 reports about unauthorised building works in May, and issued 1 454 removal orders on unauthorised works.
