EDB website and hotlines to provide textbook supply information for new school year
****************************************************

To assist parents in purchasing textbooks for the new school year, the Education Bureau (EDB) has provided in its "Textbook Information" website (www.edb.gov.hk/textbook) a search function on "Textbook Supply Information for New School Year" for parents to check the latest information on the availability of textbooks as provided by publishers from July to September.

The website information will be updated weekly. If parents have difficulty in purchasing textbooks, they may use the contact information of publishers listed on the website to contact the publishers direct.

The EDB is also operating the Textbook Information Hotlines on 3698 3578, 3698 3947 and 3698 3946 from 9am to 6pm during weekdays from now until September 30. Parents may also send enquiry emails to the EDB at textbook@edb.gov.hk, and these will be replied to within two working days.

Moreover, parents may note the following when buying textbooks for their children:

1. Generally, bookstores have more stock in July, and some bookstores may provide reservation service if individual textbooks are out of stock (full payment in advance may be required). The publishers will consider demand when reprinting textbooks to meet the needs of parents.

2. Pay attention to the information provided on school textbook lists, including titles, editions, names of publishers and whether the former editions can still be used. Parents should check carefully the above information when purchasing second-hand textbooks.

3. Some reference books, such as dictionaries and atlases, need not be purchased every year.
