The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance today (July 8) alerted the public to a fraudulent website with the website address "www.qbe-hk.com". The website looks similar to the official website of QBE Hongkong & Shanghai Insurance Limited (QBE HKSI). QBE HKSI has confirmed that it has no connection with the fraudulent website.
The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the website or has conducted any insurance transactions through the website should contact QBE HKSI at 2828 1998, the Police at 2595 2254 or any local police station.
Any company carrying on insurance business in or from Hong Kong must be authorised by the Insurance Authority under the Insurance Companies Ordinance (Cap. 41).
