Grants approved for flood victims in the Mainland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia

     The Government has accepted the advice of the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee and approved a grant of $5.144 million from the Disaster Relief Fund to the Amity Foundation, Hong Kong for providing relief to flood victims in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Hunan Province in the Mainland; and a grant of $2.225 million to Oxfam Hong Kong for providing relief to flood victims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia.

     Announcing the grants today (July 4), a government spokesman said that the Committee hoped that the grants would help provide relief to the flood victims in the respective regions. To ensure that the money would be used for the designated purposes, the relief agencies would be asked to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts on the use of the grants after the relief projects have been completed.
