Contractor fined for violation of safety rules (2)

Insituform Asia Limited was fined $120,000 at Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (July 4) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Confined Spaces) Regulation. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.
The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on June 8, last year in Central. A worker collapsed inside an existing underground sewage pipe while he was conducting pipe lining repair work. He was certified dead later the same day.
