********************************************************

The Grand Compass Law Alliance (The Compass) announced today (July 4) that it has opened a new office in Hong Kong through Sincere Partners & Attorneys. The Compass is leveraging the international business and financial centre to promote legal exchanges between Hong Kong and Mainland China, and provide cross-boundary legal services to Mainland and overseas companies.

The Compass' Rotating Chairman Lu Yongge said, "The Compass, represented in Hong Kong by its member Sincere Partners & Attorneys, comprises law firms from 12 Mainland provinces and cities including Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai, and coastal and inland areas like Tianjin, Chongqing, Shenyang, Nanjing, Yangzhou, Qingdao, Zhengzhou, Taiyuan, Baotou and others."

Mr Lu said, "The land area of the provinces that The Compass is located in is more than 2.2 million square kilometres and has a population of 580 million. As the economies of these areas have become more mature and sophisticated, there has been a growing demand not only from local enterprises to 'go global', but also from many overseas companies that also want to get access into these markets. We want to use Hong Kong as a platform to meet this keen two-way demand by working with our partners in Hong Kong to provide legal services to Mainland and overseas companies."

He added, "Hong Kong as the legal service hub in Asia Pacific also allows our alliance to promote exchanges between the legal professions of the two places, which brings good synergy."

The Compass will serve as the bridge between Mainland lawyers and their Hong Kong and international counterparts, and engage in cross-boundary legal service collaboration and activities for young lawyers such as exchange and training programmes.

The Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion, Mr Andrew Davis, welcomed the opening of Sincere Partners & Attorneys in Hong Kong and the introduction of The Compass to the city. He said, "With The Compass set up in Hong Kong, I believe that it will introduce to our city more diverse Mainland enterprises from many different parts of Mainland China. It will cement Hong Kong's role as the 'go global' platform and is in the long term interest of our economy."
