Correctional officers stop fight between persons in custody

     Correctional officers stopped a fight between two persons in custody at Stanley Prison today (June 18).

     At 8.30am, two male persons in custody, aged 34 and 54, fought with each other over a trivial matter inside the dining hall. Officers on duty immediately stopped and separated them.

     They were taken to the centre hospital for treatment. Both of them sustained injuries to the face and hands. They were subsequently referred to a public hospital for further examination and treatment. Both persons in custody have been discharged from hospital after treatment and have gone back to the institution.

     The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.

     The 34-year-old person in custody was sentenced for the offence of carrying arms with criminal intent, while the 54-year-old person in custody was sentenced for the offence of burglary.
