Seminar on "Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region - Maintaining Stable and Sustainable Growth"

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation:

     The Hong Kong Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (HKCPEC) and the China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation (CNCPEC) will jointly hold a seminar titled "Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region - Maintaining Stable and Sustainable Growth" on June 30 (Monday).

     The current global economic climate is characterised by modest economic growth with remaining downside risks. Our common challenge is to explore viable means for maintaining stable and sustainable growth. The Joint HKCPEC-CNCPEC Seminar provides a platform for representatives from the academic, business and government sectors to examine how to promote and inject new impetus for growth through co-operation in the Asia Pacific.

     The Seminar consists of four sessions. The panel of speakers for each session will share their views on Hong Kong's contribution to the growth of regional trade; what should be done to manage disruptions to supply chains; the outlook for SMEs in a changing economic climate; and how the development of technology shapes trade and business in the Asia-Pacific region. Details are set out below:

Session 1: Hong Kong's Contribution to the Growth of Regional Trade

     The Chair of HKCPEC, Professor Stephen Cheung, will give welcome and closing remarks, and the Chair of CNCPEC, Ambassador Tang Guoqiang, will give opening remarks.

     The Seminar will be held from 8.30am to 5pm at the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong, Pacific Place, 88 Queensway, Hong Kong. It will be conducted in English. Admission is free but seats are limited and prior registration is required.
