S for S to visit New Zealand and Australia

     The Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, will leave Hong Kong tonight (June 15) for a week-long duty visit to New Zealand and Australia.

     Mr Lai will meet with his New Zealand and Australian counterparts to update them on the latest developments in Hong Kong, in particular law and order situation. He will also exchange views with them on issues of common concern.

     While in Wellington from June 16 to 17, Mr Lai will call on the Ministry of Immigration, Ministry of Civil Defence and Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. He will also visit the National Crisis Management Centre.

     Mr Lai will then proceed to Canberra and Melbourne from June 18 to 20 for meetings with senior officials of Department of Immigration and Border Protection, Australian Workforce and Productivity Agency, Australian Customs and Border Protection Service, Ministry of Industry, Victorian Department of Health, and Migration and Refugee Review Tribunals.

     Mr Lai will return to Hong Kong on June 21.
