LegCo Members meet with Kowloon City and Tsuen Wan District Council members (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held meetings today (June 12) with members of the Kowloon City District Council (DC) and the Tsuen Wan DC respectively in Conference Room 1 and Conference Room 2 of the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

     During the meeting with the Kowloon City DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: request for renewal of the Hung Hom Clinic; request for relocation of the To Kwa Wan Vehicle Examination Centre and improvement on traffic congestion in the vicinity of Kowloon City Ferry Pier; and request for thorough public consultation and consideration of the community's coping capacity before re-zoning the residential sites in the district for hotel use.  The meeting was convened by Mr Cheung Kwok-che and attended by Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Paul Tse, Mr Frankie Yick, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Dr Helena Wong, Mr Ip Kin-yuen, Dr Chiang Lai-wan, Dr Lo Wai-kwok and Mr Tony Tse.

     As for the meeting with the Tsuen Wan DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: review, re-organisation and adjustment of public transport; misuse of parking meters for commercial purposes; immediate construction of a footbridge connecting the property developments at Tsuen Wan 7 Development Project and Tsuen Wan 6 Development Project of Tsuen Wan West Station of the West Rail Line; comprehensive review on the efficiency and effectiveness of the Joint Offices for Investigation of Water Seepage Complaints; market management; cycle track between Tsuen Wan and Tuen Mun; dental services for the elderly (health and medical); licensing matters of telecommunications service providers; and relocation of the Gin Drinkers Bay Public Cargo Working Area.  The meeting was convened by Dr Leung Ka-lau and attended by Mr Tam Yiu-chung, Mr Ip Kwok-him, Mr Michael Tien, Mr Ng Leung-sing, Mr Steven Ho, Mr Chan Han-pan, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Mr Leung Che-cheung and Dr Lo Wai-kwok.
