Danish building services company Steensen Varming announced today (June 9) that its first Asian studio will open in Hong Kong this week.

Steensen Varming has over 80 years of experience working with renowned architects in international building and heritage projects providing mechanical and electrical engineering, sustainable and lighting design solutions to enhance the human living environment. The Hong Kong studio in Sheung Wan will be focusing on sustainability and specialist architectural lighting design services, according to an executive, in response to the strength of Hong Kong's building industry and the city's increasing role as the global design centre.

The Director of Steensen Varming, Mr Chris Arkins, said, "Hong Kong is a dynamic city and a great place for creative companies to operate amid increasing demand in Asia for design excellence and innovation. Our establishment in Hong Kong is an important step in our global development strategy."

He added, "We consider Hong Kong as an important and buoyant market with great opportunities in the building industry. It is a uniquely global business city strategically located in the heart of Asia and provides a gateway to opportunities within the Southeast Asian market and Mainland China."

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion Mr Andrew Davis welcomed the opening of Steensen Varming in Hong Kong and said, "Hong Kong is one of Asia Pacific's leading design centres. With the increasing demand from Mainland China and Asia, plentiful supply of international talents and the ease of doing business, the city is also an advantageous location for firms in the architectural sector."
