Hong Kong greenhouse gas inventory for 2011 released

The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today (June 6) released the 2011 greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory for Hong Kong.
Hong Kong's total GHG emissions in 2011 amounted to 42.7 million tonnes carbon dioxide equivalent. Electricity generation remained the major source of emissions, amounting to 29.6 million tonnes or 69.3 per cent of the total. Other major emission sources were transport sector (17.2 per cent) and waste management (5.3 per cent).
