In order to facilitate the construction of Kwun Tong Line Extension on Chatham Road North in Hung Hom, special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 1am to 6am on June 8 (Sunday).
I. Road closure
- During 1am to 6am, Winslow Street Underpass and Chatham Road North Underpass will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic;
- During 1.30am to 5.30am, the section of northbound Chatham Road North between Yan Fung Street and Valley Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic; and
- Some traffic lanes from eastbound Gascoigne Road near its junction with Chatham Road South to northbound Chatham Road North near Valley Road; and from northbound Hong Chong Road outside Hong Kong Polytechnic University to the slip road leading to northbound Chatham Road North will be partially closed in accordance with the works progress.
II. Traffic diversion
During the road closure of Winslow Street Underpass and Chatham Road North Underpass, the following traffic diversion will be implemented:
- Vehicles on westbound Winslow Street heading for northbound Chatham Road North will be diverted via Cheong Hang Road, northbound Gillies Avenue South, eastbound Wuhu Street, northbound Ma Tau Wai Road, westbound Fat Kwong Street, northbound Shun Yung Street, eastbound Pak Kung Street and northbound Chatham Road North; and
- Vehicles on northbound Chatham Road North heading for Hung Hom area will be diverted via westbound Pak Kung Street, southbound Shun Yung Street, eastbound Fat Kwong Street, Wo Chung Street, southbound Chatham Road North and eastbound Wuhu Street.
During the road closure of the section of northbound Chatham Road North between Yan Fung Street and Valley Road, the following traffic diversion will be implemented:
- Vehicles on northbound Chatham Road North heading for Ma Tau Wai area will be diverted via Yan Fung Street, westbound Fat Kwong Street, southbound Chung Hau Street, eastbound Fat Kwong Street, northbound Shun Yung Street, eastbound Pak Kung Street and northbound Chatham Road North; and
- Vehicles on northbound Chatham Road North heading for Hung Hom area will be diverted via Yan Fung Street, westbound Fat Kwong Street, southbound Chung Hau Street, eastbound Fat Kwong Street, Wo Chung Street, southbound Chatham Road North and eastbound Wuhu Street.
Actual implementation of the traffic arrangement will be made by the Police depending on the traffic condition in the area. Appropriate traffic signs will be erected on site to guide motorists. Motorists should exercise tolerance and patience in case of traffic congestion, and observe the instructions given by the Police.
