Twenty-one building plans approved in April

     The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in April, with three on Hong Kong Island, 10 in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 12 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, four were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 21 building projects that, when completed, will provide 187 218 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1 610 units, and 40 236 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 12 building projects.

     The department also issued 17 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 86 051 sq m, involving 1 399 units, and 21 367 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in April totalled about $1.83 billion.

     In addition, 13 demolition consents involving 13 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2 730 reports about unauthorised building works in April, and issued 1 709 removal orders on unauthorised works.
