The Hospital Authority (HA) today (June 6) launched a mobile application called TouchMed to provide public hospital patients with a useful pharmacy service and drug-related information.
"Public hospital patients are provided with numbered tickets for collecting medicines at hospital pharmacies. While the ticket numbers are shown on the pharmacy electronic display panels to signal the medicines are ready for collection, TouchMed allows patients to access this information from their smartphones anytime, anywhere," the HA spokesman said.
The spokesman added that through setting up a notification alert, TouchMed would notify the patient when the medicines are ready for collection. "There are typically over 1,000 prescriptions each day at busy pharmacies of acute hospitals and some patients may need to wait longer to collect their medicines during the peak hours. After setting up the alert, patients can manage their time with greater flexibility while waiting for the medicines."
TouchMed app has been launched in five pilot sites and will be rolled out to about 30 hospital pharmacies in phases in the coming few months. The five pilot locations are as follows:
* Main Pharmacy, Block A, Princess Margaret Hospital
* Specialist Outpatient Clinic Pharmacy, Block K, Princess Margaret Hospital
* Main Pharmacy, Prince of Wales Hospital
* Specialist Outpatient Clinic Pharmacy, Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital
* Central Pharmacy, Queen Mary Hospital
TouchMed is applicable to those public hospital pharmacies displaying the TouchMed banner (see attachment). TouchMed can be downloaded free of charge from the Apple App Store (supports iOS version 7.0 or above) or Google Play (supports Android version 4.2 or above) and it is available in traditional Chinese and English.
