Fatal traffic accident in Airport

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Airport District tonight (June 5) in which a 39-year-old man died.
  
     About 8.10pm, a medium goods vehicle (MGV) driven by a 55-year-old man was travelling along westbound South Perimeter Road. When turning right into an unnamed road, the MGV reportedly knocked down the 39-year-old man who was riding a bicycle along eastbound South Perimeter Road.

     The cyclist was trapped under the MGV and rescued by firemen. Sustaining serious injuries, he was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state where he was certified dead at 10.15pm.
 
     The MGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.
  
     Investigations will be conducted by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South.
  
     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3661 1300.
