LegCo Members meet with Eastern and Sha Tin District Council members (with photos)

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo) held meetings today (June 5) with members of the Eastern District Council (DC) and the Sha Tin DC respectively in Conference Room 1 and Conference Room 3 of the LegCo Complex to discuss and exchange views on matters of mutual interest.

     During the meeting with the Eastern DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: proposal for construction of a highway round the Hong Kong Island; delegation of substantive power in municipal matters and unification of powers and responsibilities relating to street management; stepping up regulation of "sub-divided units"; railway incidents and crowdedness in MTR train compartments; and regulation of and enforcement against unlicensed guesthouses.  The meeting was convened by Mr Ip Kwok-him and attended by Mr Vincent Fang, Mr Wong Kwok-hing, Mr Andrew Leung, Ms Cyd Ho, Ms Starry Lee, Mr Yiu Si-wing, Dr Kenneth Chan, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Mr Kwok Wai-keung, Mr Sin Chung-kai, Ir Dr Lo Wai-kwok and Mr Christopher Chung.

      As for the meeting with the Sha Tin DC, LegCo Members discussed and exchanged views with DC members on the following issues: improvement works of Shing Mun Tunnels Bus Interchange; and review of community facilities in Tai Wai, including upgrade of library services, Tai Wai market and cycling track facilities. The meeting was convened by Mr Chan Hak-kan and attended by Ms Emily Lau, Mr Tommy Cheung, Mr Jeffrey Lam, Mr Ronny Tong, Ms Starry Lee, Mrs Regina Ip, Mr Paul Tse, Mr Leung Kwok-hung, Mr Chan Chi-chuen, Ms Chan Yuen-han, Dr Elizabeth Quat, Mr Tang Ka-piu and Ir Dr Lo Wai-kwok.
