Leisure Link patron re-registration exercise launched
*****************************************************

To ensure that members of the public possess only one Leisure Link System (LLS) account for booking recreation and sports facilities, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) today (June 5) launched a seven-month re-registration exercise during which Hong Kong residents who are LLS patrons are invited to re-register their accounts using their Hong Kong identity cards.

In response to the recommendations made by the Office of the Ombudsman to implement measures to prevent hirers from circumventing the quota restriction imposed on bookings of recreation and sports facilities (i.e. a daily maximum of two hours/sessions during peak hours and one 90-minute session for turf pitches) using multiple identity proofs (for example, different travel documents), the department has not accepted identity documents other than the Hong Kong identity card for LLS registration since August 20, 2012. Furthermore, with effect from February 1 this year, the department no longer accepts the use of travel documents such as passports by Hong Kong residents for counter booking.

Following the completion of the LLS computer system upgrade, the LCSD is now conducting a re-registration exercise for existing LLS patrons. The purpose is to prevent individuals from registering for more than one account using different identity documents in order to gain a higher chance in facility booking or exceed the quota limit.

From now until December 31 this year, current LLS patrons can re-register their accounts through the Internet by submitting their basic personal information together with a scanned copy of their Hong Kong identity card via the LLS website at w2.leisurelink.lcsd.gov.hk . Alternatively, they can submit their personal information by fax, by post or in person at the LCSD Leisure Link Telephone Services Centre located at 5M/F, Kwun Chung Municipal Services Building, 17 Bowring Street, Jordon, Kowloon.

All patron information requires verification by LCSD staff. It is estimated that the verification process can be completed in 10 working days for submissions made via the LLS online booking system. Submissions made through other channels will take slightly longer processing time, and a reply will be available within three weeks.

Patrons will be notified individually of a new registration number after completion of the registration and verification process. The old registration account will lapse in seven days after the activation of the new one.

If an existing LLS patron fails to re-register by the deadline on December 31 this year, his/her registration account will automatically lapse by the deadline and he/she has to register afresh as an LLS patron.  LCSD will remind LLS patrons of the re-registration exercise through the above LLS website and other available channels.

The spokesman urged all LLS patrons to complete re-registration online as early as possible to enable the setting up of a personal profile for booking LCSD venues or cancelling bookings in a faster and easier way through the Internet.

For details of the re-registration exercise, please visit the above LLS website, or enquire with staff of the Leisure Link Telephone Services Centre on 2314 7702.
