Following is the transcript of remarks made by the Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, at a media session after attending the Legislative Council's Panel on Security meeting today (June 3):
Reporter: Mr Lai, are the current laws sufficient in governing the ownership and use of firearms?
Secretary for Security: The current law is sufficient. This can be evidenced by the number of cases using firearms is extremely rare as compared to any other large cities.
Reporter: Did the live broadcast jeopardise the operation at all?
Secretary for Security: I think the result speaks for itself. The whole operation had been conducted very smoothly. And of course the media themselves have fulfilled their duties in reporting whereas the Police had conducted a very successful operation.
