As the Dragon Boat Festival approaches, a special team of 20 members comprising volunteers from the Hong Kong Police Force and intellectually impaired people has been training hard to prepare for tomorrow's races in Sai Kung.
Founding members Harbour Chan, a policeman, and Freeman Chung, who is autistic, spoke to news.gov.hk about the challenges and rewards of participating in this venture, which began in 2007.
Mr Chan discovered his teammates are special in more ways than one.
"There are many choices in our life. But for them, choices are limited. When I sit alongside them in the boat, they never give up and never complain. Instead, they are more positive and work harder than we do," he said.
