The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, will lead a Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council delegation to Europe tonight (June 1) to promote Hong Kong's maritime services.
They will attend Posidonia 2014, a large-scale international maritime exhibition in Athens, Greece, on June 2 to highlight Hong Kong's advantages in providing high value-added services to the maritime sectors of various countries. Professor Cheung will officiate at the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Pavilion at the exhibition. In the morning of June 3, Professor Cheung will call on the Minister for Shipping, Maritime Affairs and the Aegean, Mr Miltiadis Varvitsiotis. He will leave Athens afterwards so as to arrive in Hong Kong on June 4 for attending the Legislative Council sitting to deal with relevant agenda items.
The Under Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Yau Shing-mu, will join the delegation in London, the United Kingdom, on June 4 to meet with officials there and call on maritime organisations. They will also attend a lunch hosted by the Hong Kong Association and a seminar to promote Hong Kong's maritime services. Mr Yau will take this opportunity to see for himself housing development in London.
Mr Yau and the delegation will depart for Hong Kong in the afternoon of June 6.
