CS meets Members of UK Parliament (with photo)

     The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs Carrie Lam, met a delegation from the All Party Parliamentary China Group of the United Kingdom Parliament this afternoon (May 30) to exchange views on issues of mutual concern.

     Mrs Lam provided an update on the latest developments in Hong Kong, and discussed with the delegation the demographic challenges faced by Hong Kong, as well as collaboration opportunities in the areas of financial services, creative industries, infrastructure, innovation and technology and education. Mrs Lam also took the opportunity to briefly update the delegation on the public consultation on constitutional development in Hong Kong. She stressed that the Central Authorities and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government are fully committed to achieving universal suffrage in the selection of the Chief Executive in 2017 in accordance with the Basic Law and the relevant decisions of the National People's Congress Standing Committee.

     The delegation comprises Members of Parliament Mrs Heather Wheeler, Mr Alun Cairns, Mr Andrew Gwynne, Mr Dave Watts and Sir Robert Smith. During the trip, the delegation met with a number of senior government officials as well as Members of the Legislative Council, and visited various organisations to get a better understanding of the latest developments of Hong Kong on various fronts.
