Special traffic arrangements for public processions on Hong Kong Island

     Police will implement special traffic arrangements on June 1 (Sunday) to facilitate two public processions to be held on Hong Kong Island.

(1)

A. Road closure

     The following roads will be closed from 2.30pm:

- The u-turn slip road between southbound and northbound Gloucester Road;
- Sugar Street;
- Jardine・s Bazaar;
- Tang Lung Street; and
- Canal Road East between Hennessy Road and Russell Street.

     The following roads will be closed from 3pm:

- Southbound Gloucester Road between Victoria Park Road flyover and Causeway Road will be intermittently closed;
- Irving Street (except vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel);
- Westbound Yee Wo Street between Pennington Street and Hennessy Road;
- Yun Ping Road between Kai Chiu Road and Pak Sha Road;
- Kai Chiu Road;
- Lee Garden Road between Kai Chiu Road and Hennessy Road;
- Westbound Hennessy Road between Yee Wo Street and Lee Garden Road;
- Canal Road West between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- Wan Chai Road between Canal Road West and Morrison Hill Road;
- Bowrington Road between Sharp Street West and Hennessy Road;
- Westbound Hennessy Road west of Lee Garden Road and Queensway will be intermittently closed;
- The slip road leading from eastbound Johnston Road to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Rodney Street;
- Westbound Harcourt Road between Harcourt Garden car park exit and Tamar Street;
- The fast lane of westbound Harcourt Road between Tamar Street and Cotton Tree Drive;
- Eastbound Harcourt Road between Tim Wa Avenue and Tim Mei Avenue;
- Southbound Tim Wa Avenue (except vehicles heading for Chief Executive・s Office and Central Government Offices car park);
- The fast lane of Garden Road flyover if necessary; and
- Southbound Edinburgh Place between Lung Wo Road and Connaught Road Central.

B. Traffic diversion

From 2.30pm:
- Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road cannot turn right to northbound Gloucester Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Yee Wo Street cannot turn left to Sugar Street;
- Traffic along westbound Russell Street must turn left to southbound Canal Road East; and
- Traffic along westbound Hennessy Road cannot turn left to Canal Road East.

From 3pm:
- Traffic along southbound Victoria Park Road flyover will be diverted to turn right to westbound Gloucester Road service road if necessary;
- Traffic along southbound Gloucester Road heading for Causeway Road will be diverted to southbound Tai Hang Road flyover if necessary;
- Traffic along eastbound Great George Street will be diverted to turn left to northbound Gloucester Road (except vehicles heading for southbound Tai Hang Road flyover);
- Traffic along westbound Causeway Road cannot turn right to Irving Street (except vehicles heading for Regal Hong Kong Hotel) and must turn left to westbound Leighton Road;
- Traffic along Irving Street will be diverted to turn right to northbound Pennington Street;
- Traffic along northbound Pennington Street will be diverted to turn right to eastbound Yee Wo Street;
- Traffic along Yun Ping Road will be diverted to turn left to Pak Sha Road or Lan Fong Road;
- Traffic along northbound Canal Road West near Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West will be diverted to the up-ramp leading to northbound Canal Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Sharp Street West cannot turn left to northbound Bowrington Road;
- Traffic along northbound Bowrington Road must turn right to eastbound Sharp Street West;
- Traffic along northbound Tin Lok Lane cannot turn left to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along eastbound Wan Chai Road must turn right to southbound Morrison Hill Road;
- Traffic along southbound Stewart Road, southbound Fleming Road and southbound Fenwick Street cannot turn right to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along northbound Fleming Road cannot turn left to westbound Hennessy Road;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road near Harcourt Garden car park exit will be diverted to westbound Harcourt Road flyover;
- Traffic along eastbound Harcourt Road must turn right to southbound Cotton Tree Drive;
- Traffic leading from Garden Road flyover to eastbound Queensway will be diverted to northbound Cotton Tree Drive if necessary;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to northbound Tim Wa Avenue;
- Traffic along northbound Cotton Tree Drive will be diverted to westbound Lambeth Walk if necessary;
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter Tim Wa Avenue (except vehicles heading for Chief Executive・s Office and Central Government Offices car park); and
- Traffic along Lung Wo Road cannot enter southbound Edinburgh Place.

C. Restriction on access to / exit from car parks

     All car parks along Great George Street, westbound Hennessy Road and Rodney Street may be closed at short notice if necessary. Vehicles in car parks along the procession routes may not be permitted to leave or access the car park during the road closure period.

     The following traffic arrangements will be implemented from 5pm:

A. Road closure

- Rodney Street;
- Tamar Street;
- Eastbound Queensway between Tamar Street and Des Voeux Road Central;
- Southbound Murray Road between Queensway and Chater Road;
- Des Voeux Road Central between Pedder Street and Queensway;
- The slow lane of Queen・s Road Central; and
- The slow lane of Queen・s Road West between Possession Street and Chiu Kwong Street.

B. Traffic diversion

- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to southbound Tamar Street;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to southbound Rodney Street (except franchised buses);
- Traffic along eastbound Queensway cannot turn left to northbound Tamar Street or northbound Rodney Street;
- Traffic along westbound Drake Street cannot turn right to northbound Tamar Street;
- Traffic along southbound Cotton Tree Drive cannot turn left to eastbound Drake Street;
- Traffic along westbound Harcourt Road cannot turn left to southbound Murray Road;
- Traffic along westbound Lambeth Walk must go straight to westbound Chater Road; and
- Traffic along eastbound Des Voeux Road Central must turn left to northbound Pedder Street.

C. Restriction on access to / exit from car parks

     All car parks along the following roads may be closed at short notice if necessary:
- Murray Road;
- Queen・s Road Central between Garden Road and Possession Street; and
- Queen・s Road West between Possession Street and Chiu Kwong Street.

     Vehicles may not be permitted to leave or access car parks along the procession routes during the road closure period.

     Any vehicles found illegally parked within the precinct of the special traffic arrangements specified above might be towed away without prior notice.

     Actual implementation of the traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Motorists are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
